>>I have a report form that looks similar to a spreadsheet with a grid of lines to frame the numbers. One row of the report has a rectangle shape behind the numbers and the grid to simulate a yellow highlighter. My problem is that the shape prints on top of the grid lines instead of behind them. This is true even after I set it to the far back of the form and set everything else to the front. It appears properly (behind the grid) in the designer but when it prints it is on top of the grid but behind the numbers.

>Objects are printed one band at a time so if any of the shapes or lines are started in bands other than the detail band, they will get printed first, then the objects in the detail band. IOW, when you "Send to Back", it means ... Send to the back of the objects for this band ... any previous bands will still print those objects first. This can cause problems when you are stretching lines from one band to another.

Thanks Cathy and Bo, this at least explains what's going on. Cathy, I'm not sure what you mean when you suggest playing with the mode. How do you do that? If its in the menus somewhere its not obvious.
