A different font changes how a ASCII code is displayed - but it isn't going to change the code! The stored ASCII code is dependent on the keyboard locale.

Hard to say unless you describe the problem more clearly - maybe an example of the result you're expecting and the result you get? Maybe a UNICODE issue
