I use PhotoShop, ImageReady and Fireworks and it's pretty easy to do in any of them.

Create a "New" image with the height the same as your images and the width 4 times the width of one image. Open up your images one at a time and using the Move tool, drag them over to the New image that you just created.

Using PhotoShop the new image can be saved as a jpg, or with Fireworks it can be saved as a png.
