I kind of got that too :)

It seems that if MS just added VFP style cursors to .NET they would add a lot of value to the product, but there is a lot of resistance to that. I only know .NET superficially, but notice that it carries some basic assumptions that aren't necessarily true:

1) Strong typing is so good that you must make loose typing illegal. They are coming around on that one.
2) Macros are bad. I think they are powerful if you don't abuse them.
3) Set orientation is good, record orientation is bad. SCAN / ENDSCAN is an extremely powerful characteristic and it requires record orientation.
