Eventhough you can install WMI in a Windows 98 computer, not all classes are available for it, and according to the documentation, Win32_Bios requires WIN NT 4 SP 4 or better (of course anything is better than NT 4 <g>)
You can always check the requirements in the last portion of each class's documentation, for BIOS is in this link:
