Hi Jojo,

I'd use RSS technology: it will work both inside the organization, or around the world. And the user can use any client they want, or you can build one into your application. In fact, using Bloglines, they can log in from any computer and find out their overdue tasks.

RSS is pull, rather than push, technology: if you read blogs, you are using RSS or ATOM, a variant. Ted Roche has a couple of articles on his web site on this, as well as articles that have appeared in one of the Fox journals.

I can do this provided that the user to be alerted is running the Application on their PC's but the customers want to be like a virus/bot type that gets the Computer Name and its current logon user, then inform them that they need to update a certain task.
