Kevin,
Do you have any sources for your assertions apart from those anti-catholic pamphlets that originate in Pennsylvania?
Here's what I found:
http://www.church-in-history.org/pages/booklets/chloroform.htm>>Years ago, Ayn Rand wrote a pamphlet on the Catholic Church: it was called "Of Living Death". A very fitting title.
Wow. it seems that Allentown has turned back the clock to pre-revolution days when "inhumane" religious intolerance and bigotry was an established practice in English America. ;-)
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
