Normally, workstation EXE loads faster because of network traffic but nothing significant, and once up and running, there's no difference at all.
You have also to consider that the reason why EXE runs on servers is because of Remote Automation Server (RAS) support for multi-tier applications.
VFP's app when compiled as EXE serves as OutOfProc OLE Server, an option for n-Tier applications aside from DLL (InProc Server).
Besides, EXE's that sits on a server is more convenient as far as maintenance is concern.
