I agree that it's a tough call. And I've always felt that in such cases subsequent investigations must give extra weight to the perceived danger level the officer(s) are exposed to. After all, these guys are doing something daily FOR ME (and you, etc.), and something I'm not really anxious to do for myself as well.

I was concerned that you saw the person as guilty and so the death justified.
Investigation may well agree that it is justified, but at this point running from police, being caught, and grounded, and then being killed appears to be a bit harsh of a price.
