At the very least, the details that let folks know they are not some out of control paramilitary organisation. Secrecy in a situation like this is not very comforting.

They may well have been justified in this strange killing, but try to remember who they work for. Openness is what makes democracy strong, not secrecy and unaccountability.

Don't get me wrong; I'm a huge police supporter. I am eternally grateful that they are willing to do the kind of work they do for an awful lot less remuneration than they deserve. Still, they do have to be accountable. You give somebody a gun and license to use it, he/she has an obligation to prove that they can handle the responsibility.
