We noticed it the day after the updates came out.... and have not found any workarounds for it, other than what you have done already.

Since users have updated the latest security patches on their machines, they can no longer access our help files from their network install locations. If they move the help file (.CHM) to their local PC hard drive than it works. This is covered in MS KB #811630.
