I think you confuse the beliefs of various nutty authors, who I am sure the libertarian party is full of, with the overall philosophy.
Your view of the role of government is what I think of when I hear the term libertarian, or when I read any of their official website materials.
I would guess you are wrong about the beliefs you claim most libertarians have and they are closer to your own than you think, but that aside what should we call this philosophy of government role you support?
