With the regular Memo fields as with the regular character fields - the presentation of the characters is dependant upon which codepage is being used (which language your computer is set for). With Memo(binary) the information is language independant (i.e. you're using it for a code number or the like).

Which is better depends upon what you are trying to do with it.
