I know you understand something about all this mess, but a lot of people don't. They think if an innocent person gets killed, we should cease and decist. I believe the military calls it collateral damage. While we don't want those things, they happen and are unavoidable. Keeping them to a minimum is the goal, but we will never be able to avoid it. Even so, we must continue to fight or suffer the consequences. Personally, I'm for nuking Iraq and Iran and be done with it. They will always be trying to kill us otherwise.

>I have a different view on it. I will NEVER feel safe but I do feel safer today than 14 years ago and yes, safer than before 9/11. I feel safer today though because so much political attention is on national security that things that used to be overlooked are looked into more closely. With so much intense scrutiny on the current regime, departments that never communicated in the past are beginning to communicate more freely if under close supervision. I spent a few years privy to the threats that occur and even then it was on an average of a hundred a day. There were 'close calls' almost daily and I swore then that it was better not to know. I think a few others that visit the UT have had the same experience and believe me, ignorance is bliss. We will never truly be safer because there will never be the budget required for the manpower or to fully research all possibilities, the public would never stand for the privacy invasion, the majority of interpretors are not fully fluent
>in English and their 2nd language, are not truly supportive of the government that employs them, and do not catch the nuances of the text and/or speaking (or chose to ignore what they recognize), and the threat only increases everyday as more and more become anti-American and against democracy in general in some cases.

>>I think the question is somehow irrelevant, politicians will always try to make you feel safer, the real question is, are we safer today? Although I can not answer the question, my wild guess answer would be NO, after all, what has been done to destroy the roots of terrorism? (whatever that might be, I guess each one will have a different theory)
