>>I think you are fooling yourself by wanting a "Future of VFP will be...". Microsoft has already given us that. ADO is going to be big. COM is going to be big. COM+ is coming into the picture. DNA is important. MTS is viable with 6.0. Internet capabilities are increasing. Interoptability among languages is already happening.
>>
>>When Microsoft and Fox Software merged, MSFT said "We will have common development tools among our languages". I thought "Common form, menu, report, etc. designers". But, I wasn't sure how it would work. Then I learned about ActiveX, COM, etc....and now I can see how it will happen.
>>
>>You need to look at the technologies that Microsoft is pushing...not individual products because the technologies will be in all products. You need to be very forward thinking this way. The technologies will dictate what VFP is like in the future.

Actually, it's very easy. They promised the same for Office...and it has happened...and there is still more integration going on in Office. Visual Studio is becoming more integrated. It won't happen over night...it will take several releases, but it will happen. Look for VFP 7.0 to use the Visual Studio UI and possibly a common report designer. If MIS isn't paying attention to this, they are too involved in putting out todays fires and not doing enough long term planning.
