This resulted in the Nixon Administration imposing year round daylight savings time beginning January 6, 1974. Mothers protested as children were going to school in the dark. It was also determined that an increase in oil usage of 5% occurred due to the new law. The law was soon removed.
It remains to be seen what will occur with this “new concept” of an increase in the length of daylight savings time.
We complain of “too much government” and we get laws like this. Instead of regulating the clock our government should be looking at and developing alternative energy sources to be less dependant upon an oil economy.
Here is one suggestion on how to save on the consumption of barrels of oil. Everyone arises when the sun rises, goes to work and then retires when the sun sets. This will save many barrels of oil. Anyone else have any concepts to save on the usage of oil? :)
