>You're points are good.
>Has anyone been mistreated under the Patriot Act? If so, how many? Are we talking about thousands, hundreds perhaps dozens? Do law enforcers just mistreat people for the fun of it and use the Patriot Act as their excuse?

>I really like to know. I personally don't know anyone who has been violated under the Patriot Act law, and haven't heard of one in a long long time, if ever.

>Lot of provision of the Patriot Act has been in force for years to fight drug dealers and gangs and no one complained then. But why now?
By the way you still hear news reports about money laundering and funds being diverted from the United States into terrorists hands. Mush more emphasis must be placed upon this activity.
I think that some people fear that if a law is passed that it might be enforced when and how it is desired. Our society is very focused upon the rights of the individual. Unfortunately, the rights of the individual can interfere with the rights of the majority! There has to be a balance.
There is one name of a person detained under the Patriot Act. Jose Padilla, the Brooklyn-born former gang member who was picked up at a Chicago airport three years ago by the FBI and locked in a military brig without access to a lawyer. Are there others? Perhaps but I am not privy to such information. Some people fear that people might start disappearing due to the Act.
