Access is not a real compettition to VFP (IMHO and many others - u can see the general opinion on other threads here)

as for powerbuilder vs. VFP 5.0
powerbuilder cost more and more complex to program without much benefiets on performance
also ,although VFP intudoce many new concept to FP programmers
it still uses a familiar sytax so transition is easier
