I installed VFP to a local drive but I got the same message when I tried the server setup for Visual SourceSafe to a Netware volume. The message said to use a switch (could have been /S) with setup to install the program. The same switch may work with VFP's setup. Try doing the server setup for VSS to find the switch and then try it with VFP. If that doesn't work, you could ask the adminstrator to enable long file name support.
