I have found three books that are excellent for learning the ins and outs. All are by Sams:
Teach Yourself SQL Server 2000 in (laughable amount of days)
Teach Yourself Transact SQL (more laughing at the number of days)
SQL Server 2000 Unleashed

All well worth the money, and two of them come with a CD.

>Ok found the BOL on SQL user-Defined Functions. They do not give an example of how to define an input parameter as a character. Does anyone know what the syntax is, I tried char(10) and varchar(10).
