>Mark,
>We may be talking about different things using the same vocabulary. I need to make sure that ALL users are out of all tables and the only way I know to do this is to try to open the dbc file exclusively. However, that is not the point of my question. The real question I have is, why does the program automatically switch to datasession #4 when I open the dbc inside of an object method?

That object was created while your app was in datasession 4. Is this object a session object? The method I use to handle by DBC is a "custom" object created in the default DS. When I start an app, I always open a generic "status" (dummy) table that has nothing of importance in it. This table is opened in the default DS. When I need to do something exclusive, I close this table, then try to re-open it exclusively. If I can, then I know all other user are out.
