Where I work they have some new work in SQL Sever going on. I haven't seen to project, but from what i've heard, the architect adhered too closely to normalization rules.

It takes so many inserts to complete 1 transaction, that not too many people can be doing data entry at the same time. I really believe, you really have to use common sense when deciding how to architect your system using normalization rules.

>>Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. He (database architect) said that as a general rule, you should break the data into multiple tables. But, given how I (and you are doing the same thing) am using the data, this is a good place to break the rules. And I happen to agree with him. I generally follow data normilization rules, but this is a good case for breaking the rules.
