Definitely go with Visual MaxFrame. Lots of samples, tutorials and previouslyl recorded webinars. You understanding of n-tier will increase as you use the product. More importantly, your productive from the beginning. Follow the VFP recommendations and you will have a reliable and maintainable application.

The folks at Vision Data actually use the framework in their daily coding as does Drew Speedie the primary author. In otherwords, they do not live off of selling the framework, but actually write applications for thier own customers.
