I agree with Çetin; and I think that quite often, the main problem is not that your application works fast enough, but rather, that you manage to get the programming done fast enough! Visual design should help you with this objective.
Of course, you can do some speed tests, and memory usage tests, for certain cases. I don't think the performance difference is significant, but you can try it.
