I can't remember if Pascal supported that syntax, but even when I used C in college I could not get comfortable with that syntax. I must admitt that I think about it every time I type it out but by that time I am done typing and I just leave it there lol.
After reading Alex's post I recall using the shorter syntax in later versions of VFP but intellisense expanded the code for me so I was ok with it.
