Today a major article in a Dutch newspaper deals with the theme of testing applicants. A person applied 3 years ago and also had to undergo an IQ-test. His score was quite low and he was rejected. He did a similar test on his own costs and there he scored well. He went to a lawyer and this week the court will tell whether the company (well, actually the Dutch Tax Department) was right or wrong rejecting him. If wrong, they probably still have to hire him!

The discussion focuses on the quality of the tests, many of them not even being scientifically tested, most notably those that have been 'developed' by an employee officer himself. Many applicants complain about the quality, but also the professional organizations (of psychologists, for example) have these complaints.

If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
