well, the correct command is: set device to COM1

my client is using serial miniprinter, since my notebook doesn't have COM port, I did everything with paralel miniprinter. I just wish the same code (for paralel) will run well with serial. my experience with Clipper, I only need to add an extra code: set device to com1

hopefully the same thing happened with VFP.
