We have a very weird problem on a server since a few months. At first, we thought that we had something wrong with our setup. So, we did the setup again several times. Then, it was a no go. So, we reinstalled the OS again on a new server and we ended up with the same problem. Over the weekend, we uninstalled several components and installed then again, same thing.

I mentioned it in here because our main problem is with the DCOM and we are not sure if someone might have faced that situation before with WWC.

When I did the entire setup again yesterday, over the weekend again, when I was alone on the box, everything worked well. But, this morning, once the box went into production for some other components that are not using WWC in DCOM mode, we started to have problems again. Basically, the WWC DCOM mode is not being used right now. However, if we do a simple test, we can easily see that something happened on the server which caused it to not work anymore.

Basically, one of the situations we have when the problem occurs is that a simple a.asp page with just my name on it will stop working in the main directory as well as if the file would be in a virtual directory. However, that file works ok from the virtual WWC directory.

Also, our .NET Web Service files, such as admin.asmx, from the same virtual directory as where the a.asp page no longer works, stop working. The server returns:

Server Application Unavailable

The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.

If I go in WWC, I can access /wconnect/admin.asp as that directory still works ok. But, once I get it, I can no longer go in whatever DCOM is related.

So, something is causing a conflict. I just don't know what it is. But, I know the setup is good. I done it several times on several servers. Everytime, we end up with that situation after a while once other applications have started to be used. Anyone would have any idea what that could be? What can cause the asp files no longer working in some specific directories, the asmx files either as well as DCOM?
