>>I am writing a procedure to perform maintenance functions on tables which are accessed by a FoxPro 2.6 for Windows application. The application and the data are installed on a Novell Netware 4.11 network. Users of the application are asked to close the application before going home for the night but they don't always comply. If the maintenance procedure is unable to open a table exclusively, I would like to be able to log the identity of the user so that he or she may be sent a reminder.

We tried environmental variables GETENV(), but that did not really fit the whole security picture. I will be glad to send you the routine if you wish. I also have trouble with people not logging out, so what we had the administrator do is that ALL users, except administrators can only be in the system from 5AM to 10PM and the 10PM to 5AM is our time to do administrative work. Exceptions can be done for some users on a case by case basis.

Brett,
Could you not instead use the API for Novell's library of routines?? Maybe a Win 32 API call??

I would love to see your routine for this, since I am using just the SYS(0) right now..
