Salt Lake City has had minor leage teams on and off for many years. The old teams played at Dirk's Field, but after the Gulls left in the 70s, it fell into disrepair. A new stadium was built on the same site in the 90s and was modeled (somewhat) after Camden Yards. It's said to be one of the best minor league stadiums in the country. And, luckily, the Stingers (our AAA team) is doing well this season.

>Seals Stadium was cool and more so for adults. There was one street intersection involving the stadium that was very interesting – if you like beer! The SE corner of the intersection was occupied by the stadium. Each of the three remaining intersections were occupied by breweries – Lucky Lager, Bergermeister , and Hamm’s. Free samples were given at Hamm’s after the games. We called Seals Stadium "The Green Monster", as it was painted Kelly Green. As I was a kid I did not get to sample the offerings of the breweries.

>Seals Stadium (16th and Potrero Streets) was in a nice location of town for good weather. The Giants had a stadium build at Candlestick which was windy and talk about FOG!

>When consultants were hired to choose a new location for a baseball stadium guess what they found? The area of 16th and Potrero is said to be in the sun belt of San Francisco (yes we do have sunshine – some times) and was the “ideal location for a ball park”! Wow! Oh well. So now the new SBC Park is near the bay about one mile away from the old “Green Monster”.
