Thank you for the feedback.
The site has been up for less than 1 week, and we are still shaking things down.
I have updated the link to go to our 'preview' page. On that page, we have the first paragraph of all articles that are currently posted so that new readers can get a feel for What's Inside before they subscribe.

If they like what they see on the preview page, the new reader is then able to get a 30 day trial subscription without giving a credit card or any other form of payment.

I hope this addresses the issues you raised, they are certainly legitimate.
As far as he links on the home page are concerned, we are moving them to a seperate links page within the next week or so.

By the way - speak nicely about the clown, she is my wife. Yes people, when you stop laughing, I am married to a professional clown.

If you have a chance, I would greatly appreciate it if you look at look at the new link. I would greatly appreciate your feedback, wether or not you subscribe.

I would also like to clarify something. In my previous post, I stated that as a professional programmer and writer, I expect to get paid for my services.

I want to make it clear that I also donate my time for various activites. I am the VP of Orange County Foxpro Developer's Group. I have spoken at LA Fox, Orange County Fox and San Diego Fox this year (twice at each), and I am availible to speak at any other user group or conference on an expense reimbursement basis. As of 9/2005, I will be writing columns for UT Magazine, and I am providing conference coverage for the LA Fox Boot Camp and Southwest Fox for the UT. All of these activities are performed without compensation for my time, just like everyone else involved in user groups or on the speaking circuit.

My magazine just happens to be a commercial endeavor as part of my business.

>Please take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt. These are my reactions after visiting the link that you provided in your earlier message.
>
>I was expecting a professional presentation of a request for me to spend my money on your product. Instead I found links to website for clowns, etc. This is a complete distraction and, in my opinion, completely unprofessional.
>
>I was expecting to see a sample of your content WITHOUT having to register for a free trial. I will not give away my marketing information to anyone simply for the right to view something you want me to buy. One sample column is all that is necessary. If I like what I see and want to look at more, then registration is an option. Call me paranoid, but in today's day and age, fore-warned is fore-armed.

>>Yes it is for money.
>>Also it is because I am covering issues that I set out to research, not just things that happen to come across my desk.
>>
>>I am a professional writer as well as a programmer.
>>
>>Some programmers code for open source or freeware, others expect to get paid.
>>
>>I fall in the latter category.
>>
>>>>I'm curios why web magazine not just a blog as everybody else? :)
>>>
>>>
>>>I guess because it for MONEY!
