>I think the problem with all of this is that a policeman has a fraction of a second to act or react to any given situation. That is a difficult position to put any human being in.

This is really my point Tom. There had been 8 bombings or attempted bombings and the police were under orders to protect the innocent from further attacks. They had the right house. The suspect looked similar to the Brazilian unfortunately. The thing is that if this poor fellow had turned out to be a bomb carrying terrorist then the whole world would be applauding the magnificent use of deadly force to protect the innocent.

This thread is too critical without giving any due credit to the people who must do a very difficult and dangerous job and one that carries an awesome responsibility. I wonder how many of the most vocal critics in this thread would have the balls to do that job. Even the title of this thread is just designed like a tabloid headline.

Lets not forget that at the end of the day we are all human. Its not like these police and special units have a reputation for unaccceptable behaviour. It was a mistake and we should let the courts and due process deal with this incident and hopefully there will not be a next time.
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends - Martin Luther King, Jr.
