I am currently reading a book about the US, from the former Dutch correspondent for Dutch television in the States. (The book's title: 'Amerikanen zijn niet gek' meaning 'Americans are not crazy'.) In one of the chapters he states about american lawyers that they are very low on esteem-lists these days.

The book makes clear to me that there are quite more cultural differences between the Dutch and the Americans (more specifically, the U.S. citizens) than I realized.
