>One of my clients has a ethernet-connected printer. Instead of \\computer_name\share_name_of_printer it is shown as 192.168.1.105_9100

>When I do a NET USE LPT1 192.168.1.105_9100 at the DOS prompt, it returns an error: "System error 66 has occured. The network resource type is not correct." Is this connection possible, or does the printer have to be connected to the server or a workstation and then shared?
When we add a "local" printer using the IP address, the port is usually the IP address with IP_ at the beginning: IP_192.168.1.105
This is what the Add Printer wizard does by default. However, the user can change the name of this port.
