>>>I went to a lecture by R. Eliyahu Bergstein the other night about 5 levels of pleasure. He described it this way:
>>>
>>>The lowerst 5th level of pleasure is the physical kind of pleasure. You have to enjoy your life, but there is much more it can offer you.
>>>
>>>The fourth level of pleasure is Love. He gave several very interesting examples explaining this idea...
>>>
>>>The third level of pleasure is doing something meangful..
>>>
>>>The second level of pleasure is doing something Creative.
>>>
>>>And the first level of pleasure is understanding, that everything from this word comes from G-d and trying to bring G-d in your life...
>>>
>>>And you have to combine all these levels in order to live good and spiritual life...
>>>
>>>----------------------------------------
>>>I tried to explain if briefly, I would not be able to present it as good as R. Burgstein...
>>
>>Bergstein's list makes a lot of sense and I agree with the order, but where does the pleasure of eating cake come in <bg>
>
>That's simple - it's a fith level of pleasure < g > It's physical...
>
>However, if you would consider eating good meal when your family gathers together on the beatufily served table on some joyfull occassion - it would be a slightly different story? Is it only physical or there is more in that? It's physical and spiritual at the same time, so I guess it would be level 4 and level 5 combined...
>=================================================================
>Another idea - the whole life is either act of taking or giving or both in the same time... Think about it.

If I eat the cake with my family and we invite Jesus to join us (say our table prayer), that should be 5th, 4th and 1st level combined. My wife would in addition to level 5, 4 and 1 get level 3 (because it is meaningful to cook for your family) and 2 (if she was creative and tried a new recipe or invented a cake).
Semper ubi sub ubi.
