>>>As to what your American friend said - although I'm not quite sure how much I agree with that, I do think the 500,000 computer geeks over here that don't have their jobs anymore are not the most skilled ones here....and probably the 'bottom of the barrel' for the most part.<

>I think you're way off base here, Victor. As Jim said, it's all about money. Big corporations typically care mainly about their bottom line. Isn't it better, according to the CFO anyway, to hire 4 off-shore programmers for the price of one American programmer? Think of the gain in productivity ... you get four times as much work done.

I think what I said has been misunderstood - I should of worded it better. Basicly what I mean is that if you're a good programmer - this offshoring mess shouldn't effect if you can get a job or not - but if you're an entry-level person with little or no experience, you're going to have a problem... There is always going to be a need for programmers here in the USA - and it's the best ones that will get the jobs - soo...its that bottom 500,000 that would mostly have a problem.

>I think it's a stupid move on management's part to agree to this nonsense. Guess that's why I'm not in management. <g>

>>>An american from the U.S.A. came to visit the other day.
>>>
>>>We talked about outsourcing to India. I told him why I thought that was'nt really good for the local economy affected.
>>>
>>>But his anwer was that outsourcing is good because it gets the stupid jobs to India while in the meantime guys from USA can do more intelligent things.
>>>
>>>So considering that outsourcing is just beginning and that we could expect the worst to come in that area, how do you feel about that affirmation? Are USA'ers really that bright?

>>Well there have been over 500,000 I.T. jobs offshored in the past year. I keep wondering if it will ever have any affect on me (as it has not yet).
