The term 'regression' is used with acceptance testing, but I don't think it's used in a very statistical way (although it may be based on statistical theory), because the people using this term are not statisticians, they are systems-type people. They test for 'regression' of a system, like it has something to do with speed or quality, or number of users, etc.
Management got the term by reading it somewhere, and now they want us to do it, but no one knows what it means. I thought maybe someone in the UT has seen or done this...could it be system speed as a function of the number of users? That's one idea I thought of...
