BLAT.DLL is a single, standalone DLL file that does not need to be registered. The current 2.40 version of BLAT.DLL weighs in at 100K, but when compressed, drops to about half that size for distribution. BLAT.DLL can be placed in your app's folder vs. in the Windows folder.

BLAT is a free, full featured, well supported (active Yahoo newsgroup) SMTP component that adds only 50K to your distribution. I think this is a fair tradeoff for adding one more DLL to your distribution.

I would encourage you to use BLAT.
