I was forced back into coding when my management position was consolidated. It was one of the best things ever to happen to me.

I always felt the consolidation came about because I was a lousy manager. I'm not much of a people person and I couldn't stand the "dealing with people" issues - performance reviews, chronic lateness, missed deadlines, etc.
