I sometimes also use non-structural cdx'. But to be sure no other app / odbc-enabled process has changed records without opening the non-structural cdx, I recreate those at app start and use their tables with set exclusive on - which I can do for "my" data importing and munging stuff. It is not necessary from a purely technical point, but I have lots of worries less <g>.
