Hilmar
Your story and moral reminded me of the following:
Years ago my brother was in the British Army - transport regiment. When they took delivery of a new, shiny, olive green truck the first thing they would do would be to paint it with red lead then matt green. A sergeant ordered a squaddie to paint a truck with the paint in an indicated tin. The squaddie knew what was in the tin but blindly went ahead with the order. Later the sergeant returned to find a bright pink army truck. Te squaddie hadn't informed him that someone had added white paint to the red lead.
