My preference is to use Blat for sending emails from VFP.

Rich Strahl's wwIPstuff product ($129) has a class that allows you to read POP3 email boxes. Free eval version of wwIPstuff and great documentation at www.west-wind.com.

www.dart.com has an ActiveX control for reading POP3 and IMAP4 email boxes. I've used their email controls in the past with good luck.
