In addition to what the others have told you, dot matrix printers also tend to have an unusable portion on the top of the first page of the report for form feed and based on top of form settings on the printer. We use Okidata 320 Microline printers as well as HP laserjets and inkjet printers and have had to adjust the length of VFP reports when using Okidata dot matrix printers. Reports tend to start further down the first page to allow for the feeding of the first page.
