>In order to make it to my son's birthday and take another flight the next day, United arranged me another itinerary, I had to spend the whole following day at the Dallas Fort Worth airport waiting for my rerouted flight through American (yes, they didn't put me in their next day flight, but in a different company). Well, I wasn't the only one of course, there were 30 people in the same situation, one of them was connecting from Osaka, Japan, this guy, in order to make it to the same flight I was in, was sent from Wash.DC to Toronto, Canada , then from Toronto to Dallas Fort Worth.

Wow... then my wife and daughter were extremely lucky with their delay. They were supposed to fly Norfolk - Atlanta - Paris - Belgrade, but on the given day it was pouring in Atlanta, so they were rescheduled for the next day. That next day they made it all the way to Paris, but they were late there for the connecting flight in the afternoon, and there were no seats for the evening flight. So they spent a night in a four-star hotel in Paris, courtesy of JAT Airways :). Then their bag was lost, but JAT delivered it to the door, 100km from the airport, two days later.
I flew a week later (shorter vacation than theirs - what can I do), without any problems, and we also flew back on different dates, also without any problems.
