>I know donating $$$ will help, and we will be making a substantial donation. But I am sitting here doing searches on releif efforts where I can actually load up a pickup truck with chainsaws, gasoline, work gloves, a small generator, bottled water, etc., and volunteer about 3 weeks of my time helping clear streets so utility crews, etc., can start doing there jobs. I know I can't do this in the N.O. area. I have friends in Gulfport MS, but have no way to figure out how to get started, contact them, etc. I am sure I am not the only one...
Mark;
Contact your local Red Cross Chapter and express what you would like to do. They may be able to “point you in the right direction”. I know the last thing anyone wants to do is become part of the problem while attempting to help. Just knowing what is proper and the potential of having a coordinated effort is imperative! I am speaking for experience.
The best of luck to you and your efforts. Be careful! Be sure you bring equipment to protect yourself.
Tom
P.S. I spent 40 weeks at Biloxi Air Force Base and know the area very well. I cannot imagine what has happened to the area I once knew.
