>(Fastest runner and morse coder in my high school....chicks digged it)

Nice coincidence – I was the fastest cross country runner in our school and have a Code Profeciency for 50 WPM. I also copied 50 wpm in Crypto (5 character random code groups) when I was in the Air Force.

Lammy W6URA was a friend of my dads – W6ZCZ. I would be in awe at Lammy who could copy 50 wpm while holding a conversation with several people at the same time! One day I said to Lammy, “When I copy high speed CW, I have to be in a quiet environment. How do you carry on a verbal and CW conversation at the same time?” Lammy replied, “You can do a lot of things when you have been a radio operator on a B-17”! That still cracks me up!

WA6FCO – licensed since April 1958

Known as Finest California Operator on the West Coast, and Florida’s Crummiest Operator in Florida, where I spent 18 months at Orlando Air Force Base. :)
