I can relate with this guy.

On the first of the year, I started my current job as a contractor. I was to be a temporary document tester. I was called by a recruiter from an outfit call Volt. They told me to report to a gal at this office to do a two week assignment. When I got there, she shows me to a computer, and explained my assignment. She, or anybody, never asked me if I had done anything like this before. She did not even look at my resume.

While, near the end of the two weeks, another employee approach me and ask if I had the time, could I do some software testing for him? I said yes. This went on for about 3 months. After that, I was asked to partake in doing some testing for another group. "Sure", I said, and 2 more months past.

Then after about 5 to 6 months of being there, the QA manager approached me and asks if I was interested in doing some software development. I told him that I had some experience in that area, and I would truly enjoy getting back into it. He assigned me to the development team to design and develop some automated test case. These were to be written in C#. At the time I had never successfully written anything in C#, but was willing to learn.

At the 7 month mark, the company hired me on as full time employee. It now has been 8 months, and still nobody as asked me for a resume or to fill out an application. Little do they know, I have over 25 years experience in business application design and development in a multitude of software languages. Plus, a bit of project management skill too.

I say, not bad for a 2 week testing assignment. Sometimes we have to make a job instead of waiting for one to come along.
