I was afraid you were going to say that you were using PNG images. I use them here I have major problems with image flashing, too. Even when the images are on buttons that are covered by other controls. Unfortunately, I have not come up with a solution yet so I hope someone can shed some real light on this subject. I'm pretty sure your problems lies in the fact that you are using PNGs.
