>I have a collegue who is sold on a product from Computer associates called
Jasmine. From what I can gather they are touting it as a revolutionary
product that Fujitsu has been working on and developing for the last 14
years. It's supposedly the first truly object oriented relational database
system incorporating graphics and multimedia. He says that Microsoft
doesn't have anything to compete with it except for a product which he
referred to as ADO, which he says is dog slow, terrible performance etc.

I have been using ADO for the web and jus like ODBC it is dog slow.
But still, I don't know if you can compare Jasmine (I've never
heard of it) with the purpose of ADO. If Jasmine is a dedicated
database (like VFP, Oracle, Informix, etc.) then we're talking
apples and oranges. Any dedicated language will always be faster
then generic connection managers like ADO and ODBC.
