Daniel,
I found this link on the redcross.org home page for the familylinks for katrina.
http://www.familylinks.icrc.org/katrinaIt could be that the list is already up and running. I suspect that data entry is a bigger issue. There has to be thousands of paper lists and the shelters that have yet to be entered.

>Hey Sergey,
>I'm sending a private message, the first one I've ever done. I hope it's not public. lol. Anyway, you responded to me the other day about searching multiple values in a field. The reason being is that I'm from New Orleans. To make a long story short, last Tuesday I had a friend calling me up telling me her house was destroyed and she couldn't find her dad. So I thought there would be lots of people like that. So I started
www.katrinacontacts.com. But she found her dad, as well as lot of friends that called me, they found the people they wanted to find. Not to mention that I dogged it by not finishing my "search project" due to the fact that I was trying to do it in .Net. Mistake. Hard to do.

>Straight to the point. Red Cross talked to me, via, hearing about what I was going to do, and asked me to go to the Astrodome tomorrow and see what I can do.
>This is what I'm doing:
>-Web data entry. A basic data entry and search look up on the web site, we're talking name, address, liscense, message,(no problem).
>-Desktop utility that people can download to enter data data, then upload via webservices.
>- the ability for other websites to query data. Probably with webservices.

>So I kinda feel like I blew it.. lol. I could have had this all up a few days or so, but stopped because I thought that Red Cross would have that together.
>So I need help maybe from you or someone else. I think I "over wrote" this message.. but I feel like someone like yourself could deploy this type of app in less than a day. Do you think you could help me???
>I'm going to meet with them tomorrow around 2 in the afternoon.. and we'll see what happens... but I don't want to jump the gun. You know how corporations can be.. say one thing one day.. then something else the next day... lol.
>Right now they are using pen and paper to monitor 25,000 people. I heard the red cross had an app like I'm talking about, but, I can't find it.
>So if you can help, let me know.
>Thanks alot,
>Daniel
>P.S. I just changed the title from "need help" to "need things". UT told me something about putting help in the title????? lol.
